Men of the Oyo State Police Command have commenced investigation into the killing of a student of Moslem Grammar School, Ibadan.
The deceased student was allegedly stabbed to death with a knife on Friday during an argument with his fellow student.
The murdered student, whose name was given as Toib Aresa, was said to be an SS2 student in the same school, located along Ibadan/Lagos Express way in Odinjo area.
The incident caused pandemonium in the school on Friday afternoon while police from ‘Sanyo’ area of Ibadan were said to have been called in to restore normalcy to the school.
Eyewitnesses revealed that the boy accused of killing Toib escaped on sighting the police, following which a manhunt has been launched for his arrest.
It was further learnt that Toib and the boy (whose real names could not be ascertained as at press time) were locked in argument when he suddenly brought out a knife from his bag and stabbed him (Toib) in the stomach.
A police officer at Sanyo police station confirmed the incident.
Toib’s intestines reportedly gushed out in the process, the development which made other students to scamper in fear, and drew the attention of their teachers to the incident.
“We tried all we could to save the Toib’s life but he gave up the ghost as the intestines have already gushed out while there was nothing we could do than to invite the police,” one of the school teachers who pleaded anonymity said.
The situation was still tense at the school by Friday evening as parents stormed the school to confirm the safety of their children.
