United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the Kebbi State Primary Health Care Development Agency will partner with Journalists in the campaign against Polio.

The Public Relations Officer of the agency, Mr Garba Yeldu, made this known in an interview with newsmen  in Birnin Kebbi.

According to him, the partnership will focus on intensification of campaign against the disease especially in resistant communities.

“Journalists would be engaged in publicity to encourage the public to embrace routine immunization as well as the Polio Eradication Initiative (PEI) to sustain the zero level recorded in the outbreak of Polio.
“The UNICEF and Journalists would meet on monthly basis to work out modalities that will enhance acceptance of the routine immunization and eventual eradication of Polio entirely from the state,’’ he said.
He the print and electronic media would publicise the enlightenment programmes through jingles and live programmes to ensure that parents embrace routine immunization in the state.
‘’Effort will also be intensified to ensure total eradication of the disease across the entire state,’’ he added
