A 36-year-old man in Abuja, identified as Kevin, has been arrested by the Karmo Division of the FCT Police Command for allegedly selling his own child to a Port Harcourt, Rivers State based woman.

According to the police, Kevin had deceived his girlfriend and mother of the child that he was taking the toddler to his sister but ended up selling the child.

The FCT police spokesperson, Anjuguri Manzah, confirmed the incident, stating that Kevin, confessed to the crime and that efforts were on to arrest the buyer and other persons who conspired to commit the inhuman act.

Manzah stated that the father of the baby didn’t know the exact address of the buyer but that the command was doing everything within its power to track down the woman.

It was also gathered that when his girlfriend became pregnant with his child, Kevin tried to convince to abort the baby but she refused and when she put to bed, he hatched another plan which he succeeded in tricking her into selling the child.

A police source revealed that his scheme was to become friendly with the woman when she gave birth, to let her put down her guards.

“He became a better father and started acting like he wanted the child; unknown to her, he had already planned on selling the infant.”
