The suspect, Adamu Danga, lured the victim who was sent on an errand by her mother to the cemetery area where he allegedly defiled her.

He was caught in the act by a passerby who raised an alarm and when he tried to run, he was pursued by a mob, arrested and taken to the Bosso Police Division.

Confessing to the crime, Adamu said that he defiled the girl due to intoxication as he drank some quantity of palm wine which he bought on his way home from the farm.

The Niger State Police Command confirmed the incident.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Wasiu Abiodun, said that the suspect was caught pants down and on top of the minor.

He said a preliminary investigation was conducted at the Divisional Police Headquarters and the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Minna for further action.

Abiodun said that the victim was taken to the Police clinic for a medical examination while the suspect confessed to the crime, adding that the case was under investigation and the suspect would be arraigned in court for prosecution immediately upon conclusion of investigation.
